Loso's Mainstreet Pub <> Saint Joseph, MN <> 2.5.2011

UPDATE: I was banned from Loso's after an altercation with a drunk employee. While sharing a few pitchers with a friend, he approached us and said "Either stop talking to any woman here or get the fuck out of my bar." We laughed, opted out of fighting the Miley Cyrus-sized douche bag and ended up getting banned by former friend and current lead barkeep, Will. Who hates a pacifist? Blah.
Loso's Mainstreet Pub (referred to as "The Middie" because of it's location between the La Playette and Sal's Bar, respectively) is hands down the best bar in Saint Joseph, MN.

The ceiling retains the smokey hues of a simpler time while the well-used pool tables and dart boards add some sport to a night of drinks for the unique blend of regulars the bar draws. College students and locals alike swing in throughout the week for drink specials, Nordeast on tap and good tunes courtesy of the juke box. The Top 40 hits do not get much air time at this joint but instead lots of stellar music adds to the ambiance-- Brand New, My Morning Jacket, The Knife, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes... the list goes on.

If this bar were to be dropped into the heart of Uptown in Minneapolis it would become a hipster hang-out within a week. However, sleepy Saint Joe aids the bar in maintaining a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere devoid of jerks in pre-stressed denim and Affliction shirts. Let's hope that trend continues to hold indefinitely.

On any given night (such as the Saturday I swung in with my friend Eric), the crowd is equal parts serious drinkers, college students and bachelor or bachelorette party attendees. Sometimes raucous and sometimes somber, the Middie is always a haven for those looking for a little elbow room and a lot of fun. Laid back, personable Will and the other bar tenders will keep your glass full and your heart happy!

Ratings
Price - 9/10 ($8 Nordeast and Leinie's pitchers!)
Selection - 8/10 (solid selection of tap beers and LOTS of liquor)
Ambiance - 9/10 (the way a bar SHOULD feel)
Bonus - 6/10 (+ for pool and darts; - for no live music capability, Big Buck Hunter or food options BUT with Gary's Pizza & Bo Diddley's Subs right around the corner, I forgive them on that one)
